In short, Windows 10 support is ending, meaning Microsoft will stop providing updates and security fixes after October 14, 2025. While the computer will still work, it will be more vulnerable to security risks over time. Users should consider upgrading to a Windows 11 capable computer.
Here's a breakdown for non-tech users:
Windows 10 is like an older car. It still runs, but eventually, the manufacturer stops making new parts (updates) and offering support (fixes).
Microsoft will no longer release new features or needed security updates for Windows 10 after the deadline.
Without updates, your computer becomes more vulnerable to viruses and malware because hackers will know about security flaws that Microsoft is no longer fixing.
You can still use your Windows 10 computer after the deadline, but it's like driving a car with potentially faulty brakes.
Installing Windows 11 on a device that doesn't meet Windows 11 minimum system requirements isn't recommended. If Windows 11 is installed on ineligible hardware, your device won't receive support updates from Microsoft, and you should assume the risk of running into compatibility issues.
