NEW ALL TIME HIGH NUMBER
OF COMPUTERS ISSUED IN 2006
OVER 300 FAMILIES SERVED IN 2006
Computer Banc is happy to expand services to the many children who need
technology. First, we are excited about providing expanded services.
Now, any child whose family meets our income guidelines is now eligible
to receive a computer, not just children who receive special education
services. Second, through a grant with DCEO, we are now offering
computer instruction to our families and the community. Requests for
services have grown as the need for computer skills have become a
requirement in our society.
Research has shown a computer provides valuable support to students.
Computer Banc loads Pentium III computers with a software package
containing word processing, spread sheet, math and other educational
games, a typing tutor, and other applications that can be used to build
computer skills and improve grades. Client surveys have shown that
having a CB computer positively impacts learning for children and
computer skills for the entire family.
END OF YEAR APPEAL
A big "Thank You" to everyone who contributed to our End-of-Year Appeal for 2006!

and Omega Courier, we received many times over the amount we received in 2005.

ensure the future of Computer Banc. For more information
on becoming a

RECYCLING PARTNERSHIP
Computer Banc partners with the Sangamon
County Health Department's Division of Recycling. There will
be pickup routes in the
county, including Rochester, Pawnee, and Divernon, on January 19
(or January 26 in case of bad weather). If you have more than 5
pieces of equipment, you must call Computer Banc. Beginning in January
2007, county residents (outside
Springfield city limits) will be able to recycle old PCs the first
Saturday of each month. Call the Computer Banc office at (217)
528-9506 for more information.
SPECIAL GIFT
In October 2006, the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis
responded to the mission of Computer Banc by donating a cargo van. This
will allow for easier transportation of computers to clients and taking
parts to the recyclers. Overall, the impact of having CB wheels
will enable us to refurbish and recycle a greater number of PCs.
A thank-you certificate was presented on January 10, 2007. View a photo of the presentation by clicking here.
